The hotel brands are increasingly involved with the environment, applying more advanced sustainability policies. Recycling, waste management and compliance with standard regulations are insufficient given the ecological concern and the new social demands that arise in this regard.
The policies to reduce the environmental impact will be more demanding each year, but there are hotel brands that have decided to move forward, marking the difference with the competition and demonstrating a great commitment to improve environmental management.
Among them is Iberostar, which has been the first hotel brand that, through the “Wave of change” campaign, has committed to eliminate all single use plastics in all its hotels in Spain. But it is not the only one, currently other hotel brands like Melià, Roc Hotels or Palladium (for the moment in their Ibiza and Tenerife hotels) among others, join the concern of plastic pollution, eliminating the use of disposable plastics and replacing them with biodegradable materials or others more respectful with the environment.
For example, products and packages of amenities, items from the minibar or straws will be eliminated, replacing them with materials such as cardboard, glass or renewable plant materials.
There are other types of actions that stimulate the impact of the environment, such as the use of renewable energies or the optimization of resources using building automation systems such as ROBOTBAS.
The sustainability policies of these hotel brands demonstrate through this type of ecological actions, their initiative and commitment to the environment.
